DIRECTOR
Naim is the Chief Executive Officer of SM2 Capital Partners (SM2), where he leads the strategic planning and management of operating companies and investments within the Ali Family Office. Prior to joining SM2 Capital in Calgary, Naim practiced corporate law in the Structured Finance department of a leading Wall Street law firm in New York City until 2010. Upon his return to Calgary, Naim assumed leadership responsibilities for SM2 and the Ali Family Office, overseeing a diverse portfolio that includes: Budget Rent a Car of Calgary, Park & Jet at YYC (on-airport parking), downtown parking lots in Calgary, hotels in Alberta and the United States (under the Holiday Inn franchise), and three Alberta casinos, including the recently launched Ace Casino Airport. The Ali Family Office invests in a broad range of asset classes, including private equity, public market securities, private credit, and venture capital. Naim is an active Board member, serving on the Boards of Western Investment Company of Canada, SM2 Capital Partners, and the Ali Family Office. His commitment to community and governance extends to his roles on non-profit Boards, where he serves as Chair of the Governance Committee for the Calgary Public Library Foundation and as Chair of Family Enterprise Canada. With a deep understanding of business strategy, governance, and family enterprise, Naim brings a wealth of expertise to his leadership roles and Board contributions.
